The new Focus RS: you’ll either love it …or really, really love it. Based on the new Focus ST, beneath the athletic exterior lies a formidable power unit and advanced racing technology. A wider track, turbocharged 305PS engine and advanced suspension mean it will accelerate from 0-100km/h in 5.9 seconds, with its performance more than matching those stunning looks. Ford kinetic Design shapes its dynamic exterior, and the exclusive ‘Ultimate’ green coachwork, updates the classic 1970s Ford Le Mans Green – contrasting brilliantly with black detailing to produce an eye-catching, contemporary look.

 

Bodystyling 

Everything about the Focus RS design prepares you for what to expect from its performance. At the front there's a deep airdam incorporating a black, meshed grille. This design is seen again under the black-framed chrome xenon headlamps, giving the car an aggressive, feline look. Fog lamps are set into the front quarter panels, while RS-badged black vents sit behind the flared wheel arches. The bonnet houses two louvred vents: authentic racing features that ensure the correct system temperature is maintained.

At the rear, a deep bumper mirrors that of the front, and incorporates a large venturi tunnel. At each side, a vent accentuates the car's wide stance, while two chromed exhaust protrude from beneath the pronounced bumper. To complete the racing look we've also equipped it with a twin-blade black RS spoiler that dominates its athletic rear.

Interior Styling

The interior is designed with driving enthusiasts in mind. Special Recaro high-performance sports seats ensure you get the right support, while sculpted rear seats, with higher side bolsters mean passengers can also enjoy a livelier ride in comfort.

Interior colours complement the exterior with ebony leather accents, plus RS and Recaro logos stitched into the backrests of each seat. Doorsill scuff plates also feature the RS logo.

We've taken the Focus ST cockpit and added flourishes and accents in brushed aluminium. The centre console is finished in carbon-look trim with three gauges located on it, all angled towards the driver's eye line.

Driving characteristics

Focus has a reputation for responsive handling and amazing road holding, so it was a real feat to be able to improve the driving quality with Focus RS. We achieved it by giving a 40mm wider track; stronger, longer driveshafts; revised springs and dampers; and a thicker, longer rear anti-roll bar. Having retuned the steering system you're also able to enjoy very precise feedback and a sharper steering response.

And to ensure the car is still capable of stopping with its improved power and handling on corners, we've upgraded the brakes, too.

As for the Electronic Stability Programme, fitted in every Ford, we have designed a special version for Focus RS. This allows you to enjoy a sportier drive before it kicks in - with an override switch for real enthusiasts.

Engine Performance

The turbo charged five-cylinder engine has been redesigned and fitted with unique camshafts, a revised intake and manifold system, plus a new cylinder head to produce an outstanding 305PS and 440Nm of torque. The weight savings of the new engine, together with its front-wheel drive, means an excellent power-to-weight ratio that helps the car achieve 0-100km/h in a little less than six seconds.
